Acronis shares three-pronged strategy to accelerating MSP-first innovation

With its managed service provider (MSP)-first approach, cybersecurity and data protection specialist Acronis is focused on helping MSPs deliver stronger protection with less operational complexity.

The company observed that as cyberthreats become increasingly sophisticated and scalable with AI, MSPs face pressure to scale security services efficiently. Acronis said it is investing in research, product development, and partner enablement to ensure MSPs can increase productivity to stay ahead of adversaries while improving margins and service quality.

The three-pronged strategy is focused on AI-powered product innovation, deep threat intelligence, and strong third-party validation. When it comes to threat intelligence, the Acronis Threat Research Unit (TRU) analysed ransomware and malware campaigns and published 17 original pieces of threat research in 2025.

Some highlights from Acronis TRU in 2025 included raising awareness about SafePay ransomware, a threat which ramped up in Q125, and a deep analysis of DragonForce, a Conti-derived ransomware-as-a-service active since 2023.

Acronis TRU's findings are shaping new security features across endpoint, Microsoft 365, as well as detection and response tools, and will continue to inform Acronis' strategy in 2026, the company said. Some of the innovations Acronis introduced in 2025 included the Acronis SIEM Connector 2.0 and Acronis EDR Augmentation for the Microsoft Defender Antivirus.

Independent analysts including Canalys, Frost & Sullivan, and IDC named Acronis a security leader in 2025, such as in the Canalys 2025 Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix report and Frost & Sullivan Endpoint Security Radar (Q2’25), while third-party testing over the same period showed high detection rates with low operational noise - an indication of effectiveness. Acronis received an AAA rating from SE Labs for endpoint detection and response (EDR) detections, while in MITRE ATT&CK evaluations, Acronis demonstrated low noise, high-fidelity detection, and operational impact for MSPs.

Recent ecosystem-related updates include new Fortinet FortiGate integrations. This allows MSPs to work more easily to remediate malicious changes and prevent future attacks from network-based threats, Acronis added.

Acronis and Fortinet partnered to deliver complete, natively integrated protection, accessible for organisations of any size and specifically built for MSPs. With the integration of Acronis Advanced Security + XDR and FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), service providers can easily prevent, detect, analyse, respond to, and recover from incidents across the most vulnerable attack surfaces, Acronis said.

MSPs are also able to enrich extended detection and respond (XDR) incidents with URL and IP address insights when investigating network threats.

“Security momentum isn’t just about shipping new product features. It is truly about delivering protection that works at scale,” said Gerald Beuchelt, CISO at Acronis.

“True security momentum starts with understanding threats as they emerge and rapidly translating that insight into real-world protection. By combining deep threat research, fast-moving product innovation, and strong ecosystem partnerships, we’re helping MSPs and organisations stay ahead of adversaries rather than reacting to them.”

Looking ahead, Acronis will continue to advance its security platform by expanding the use of generative AI (gen AI) and
automation to make protection more autonomous and easier to operate at scale. The company will also broaden the scope of protection to address emerging attack vectors, including gen AI-driven threats, while strengthening its portfolio through new solution releases informed by Acronis TRU research and partner insights.
