Alibaba has established the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) Business Group, to be led by Eddie Wu, Alibaba Group’s CEO.
ATH's mission is to create, deliver, and apply tokens. The new business group comprises Tongyi Laboratory, MaaS Business Line, Qwen Business Unit, Wukong Business Unit, and AI Innovation Business Unit. Wukong Business Unit is a newly created unit focused on building an AI-native work platform for enterprises, embedding model capabilities directly into business workflows.
The internal announcement from Wu noted that the world is at the threshold of an artificial generative intelligence (AGI) inflection point - the point at which AI can work at the same level, or beyond, human intelligence.
"Billions of AI agents are poised to take on an ever-greater share of digital work, each powered by tokens generated by models, and these agents will increasingly become the primary interface between people and the digital world," Wu said.
"To seize this historic opportunity, the company has decided to formally establish the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) Business Group."
As ATH's leader, Wu will drive strategic coordination across Alibaba's AI businesses, embedding AI deeply into how employees work, and preserving business agility.
ATH is comprised of the following businesses:
• Tongyi Laboratory: Advances the frontier of multimodal foundation models, pushing the boundaries of base model capability to deliver state-of-the-art models for Alibaba and the broader industry.
• MaaS Business Line: Builds an efficient and open model-as-a-service (MaaS) platform and technical infrastructure to power the AI ecosystem across industries.
• Qwen Business Unit: Builds what Alibaba calls the world’s best personal AI assistant.
• Wukong Business Unit: Builds an AI-native work platform for enterprises, embedding model capabilities into business workflows.
• AI Innovation Business Unit: Explores new AI applications, validating new business models and market opportunities.
