Sabre technology leads to improved CSR efforts

Sabre, a technology solutions provider to the global travel and tourism industry, has announced that applying its own technology to corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes has led to improvements in the way it conducts CSR.

Sabre developed an app that drew inspiration from Sabre's own QlikView application for customers to show senior management essential data on CSR campaigns, including:

Real-time employee sign-up data
The percentage of employees in different organisations who signed up for Sabre's Give Time Together events
A competitive rank that shows how each organisation was performing against others in the company

These insights led to Sabre executives tweaking the programme and achieving a record 51% employee participation rate for the 2013 Give Time Together community volunteer campaign, the company said. This was 50% higher than in the previous year.

Employees participated in more than 450 different events in 31 countries. In Tokyo, employees combined efforts with Infini Travel Information and employees cleaned and organised Donald McDonald House—the Japanese name for the Ronald McDonald House—where children with intractable diseases stay with their families while seeking treatment.

In Bangalore, Sabre employees volunteered in classrooms, fixed the computer lab, prepared meals and spent time with children attending the Sri Rakum School for the Blind. The school serves more than 500 visually impaired children and their families living below the poverty line.

Sabre employees also raised over US$1.1 million through global efforts during Give Together, Sabre's annual week of fundraising.
