The fourth-generation Core processors used in 2 in 1s offers advanced battery life and up to twice the graphics performance in ultra-thin form factors, said Leighton Philips, Director, Product Marketing and Pricing, Asia Pacific and Japan, Intel at a Computex Taipei update in Singapore recently.
At Computex Taipei, a major industry event held in early June in Taiwan, Intel introduced the 4th generation Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, which are the first from the company to deliver four cores at up to 4 GHz base frequencies. Production shipments begin this month.
The company expects designs under US$699 to grow six times from 2H'13 to 2H'14, and growth in volume shipped to surpass 150% from Q2'13 to Q2'14.
Phillips noted that businesses had experimented with tablets at a time when the vision of the 2 in 1 had not been realised. "The 2 in 1 evolution has happened and it is just as competitive. You truly can have the best PC, and when you go to the boardroom you can take your tablet," he said.
