Brocade joins 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium

Brocade has joined the 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium in support of an industry standard that increases the performance and reduces the cost of data centre networks which run over a 25 or 50 Gigabit per second (Gbps) Ethernet connection.

The 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium enables industry participants to develop new technologies that function in accordance with the specifications outlined in the consortium agreement. The organisation aims to benefit consumers and the industry by facilitating accelerated adoption of 25 and/or 50 Gbps technologies.

"This is a natural progression with relatively minimal incremental cost and an excellent re-use of existing infrastructure," said Matt Kolon, CTO for Asia Pacific at Brocade. "Our support of this consortium and the standard it has created reflects the strong commitment we have to the industry and our customers."
