Microsoft announces new cloud-based solutions ahead of US Partner Conference

Microsoft has made a number of announcements that its partners can take advantage of. The company will elaborate on them during its Worldwide Partner Conference, which runs from July 13 to 17 in the US.

Available August 1, Microsoft Azure StorSimple is a hybrid cloud storage solution that simplifies disaster recovery, consolidates management and brings on-premises data to the cloud for development and testing of new apps. Find out more here.

The Azure Machine Learning service announced in June will be available for preview on 14 July. Partners are encouraged to use it to build advanced analytic cloud services for their customers in minutes and hours. Partners like OSIsoft, which has a wide presence in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, are already providing solutions with this service to their customers.

The Azure Preview Portal, introduced April, simplifies cloud development by bringing together cross-platform cloud technologies, services and tools into a single environment. On 14 July, Microsoft will bring new infrastructure as a service (IaaS) functionality to the Portal, to allow users to easily manage virtual machines, as well as single-click SharePoint deployment for the management of multiple virtual machines within the Portal.

On preview will be Azure Event Hubs, a new service that can broker millions of events per second, allowing partners and customers to pull in, process and analyse data from a nearly infinite number of cloud-connected smart devices.

The product codenamed Oslo earlier this year is now officially called Delve. Delve, to be available to Office 365 customers later this year, is a new way to search and discover relevant content across Office 365 that delivers personalised insights based on machine learning.

Three new Office 365 plans tailored for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) ranging from 1 to approximately 250 employees, will also be available on October 1, 2014.
