Acer says back on track, reveals holiday lineup

Acer says it has turned around and successfully transformed itself from a hardware vendor to an ITC (information, technology, communication) company offering hardware, services and solutions. The company made the statement when it unveiled its holiday lineup at IFA 2014.

During the last two quarters, Acer experienced a strong gain in market share and stabilised as a company. “We have focused on the immediate decisions that were needed to transform the company,” said Jason Chen, Acer Corporate President and CEO. “Today we offer an extensive portfolio of devices with quality services and affordable prices.

“By rediscovering our DNA, Acer is providing people with devices which contribute to a better, connected world, especially as we continue to market aggressively our tablets, 2-in-1s and expand our smartphone business. ”Connectivity and the accessibility of the latest technologies to everyone are at the heart of what Acer is practising. A 2014 focus has been Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC) services, which enable individuals and organisations to securely manage their connected world, for example.

The new holiday products include two Aspire R series convertible notebooks, two Aspire Switch series 2-in-1 PCs, three Iconia series tablets, and a Liquid series smartphone.

The new Aspire V Nitro series notebooks, including the Black Edition models, are powerful and designed for entertainment and creativity. The Aspire R and the Aspire Switch series with multi-modes enhance peoples’ lives for work and play.

Acer also has a new lineup of tablets with three additions: The Iconia Tab 8 W, an 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet; the Iconia Tab 10, a 10-inch tablet for people who prefer a larger screen for personal entertainment; and the Iconia One 8, a new 8-inch tablet for people who want a light and portable tablet.

To round up Acer’s IFA launch, the affordable Liquid Z500 smartphone has been added to Acer’s smartphone portfolio.
