SingEx Exhibitions and the Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) have jointly organised the second annual edition of the Internet of Things Asia (IoT Asia 2015) against the backdrop of a rapidly growing industry around the Internet of Things (IoT). The organisers cite IDC Asia Pacific estimates that the IoT market in Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) will be worth US$862 billion in 2020, with some 8.98 billion autonomous intelligent/embedded systems, or “things”, connected to the Internet by then in APeJ.
Themed Deriving Value from the Internet of Things, IoT Asia 2015 comprises of a conference and an exhibition which will be held 8 to 9 April 2015 at MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO.
Aloysius Arlando, Chief Executive Officer of SingEx Exhibitions says, “IoT Asia 2015 is the largest IoT trade show to take place in Southeast Asia. It is a showcase of new developments that will demonstrate how to harness IoT technologies and solutions to derive value beyond monetisation to transform businesses, government and societies; how IoT can offer social insights, predictive analysis and forecasts; as well as how people will live in smart cities.”
Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment & Water Resources and Minister-in-Charge of Singapore's Smart Nation initiative is the Guest-of-Honour, and will give the opening address at the IoT Asia 2015 conference.
More than 85 speakers from 16 countries will discuss how to apply, evaluate and implement IoT technologies at the conference. Key areas to be discussed include smart buildings, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation & logistics as well as smart cities. IDC Asia Pacific will also present the findings of an industry-wide survey on the state of IoT adoption in Asia Pacific, which provides indicative trends and directional insights for IoT's development and proliferation in the region.
Sudhi Sinha, VP Product Development, Building Efficiency for Johnson Controls says, “Over 50 billion devices will be connected using IoT related technologies by 2020, up from a current of less than 15 billion in 2014. Asia has the highest percentage of M2M connections globally. The IoT Asia conference is a leading forum that brings together the best of thinking, latest technical advancements, and innovative practical applications from different industries into one common platform.”
The exhibition will feature three country pavilions: Singapore and The Netherlands, in addition to returnee Japan. Over 40 vendors of hardware, software and solutions will showcase the latest IoT technologies, products and services available in the market at the exhibition and will help trade visitors brainstorm how to implement ideas, or explain how their IoT technologies could be integrated to into existing business operations, in a manner that boosts productivity and lowers operational costs.
This year, IoT Asia will mark Global IoT Day on 9 April and the day’s founder, Rob Van Kranenburg, who is also the Founder of the Internet of Things Council, will be at the event. During the evening of the 9th, the ArtScience Late series at the ArtScience Museum will also mark Global IoT Day by offering free entry to its museum between 7 and 10pm.
Post-show, on 10 April, a site visit has been arranged to demonstrate IoT technologies in practice. The tour includes visits to Daikin to witness how IoT is aiding intelligent control solutions; TabSquare, which provides digital menus on devices for restaurants; and to SAP’s Hyperconnected Asia Showcase.
