Epson, the world’s top projector maker for 14 years in a row*, has launched the Epson EH-LS10000 home theatre projector in Singapore. Singapore is the first Southeast Asian market to have the projector available.

Dubbed the world’s first dual-laser 3LCD-reflective home theatre projector, the EH-LS10000 is a premium projector targeted at audiophiles and home theatre enthusiasts. The dual-laser 3LCD-Reflective optical engine technology enables the projector to reproduce clear images of up to 1,500 lumens in both colour and white light, with a wide colour gamut.

The new optical engine technology is also able to achieve an 'absolute black' contrast, enhancing shadow details and displaying full-black scenes as 0 lumens. The projector also debuts Epson’s advanced 4K enhancement technology, which processes 1080p full-HD videos to make them look as detailed as 4K ones.

Tan May Lin, Epson Singapore’s General Manager (Sales Division) said: “The EH-LS10000 is Epson’s flagship model that features laser light source projection and the highest image quality since the launch of Epson’s first 3LCD projector in 1989. By combining the revolutionary technology of 3LCD-R technology and laser light source, we hope to lead the market in delivering a luxurious cinematic experience that is truly maintenance-free.”

There are five levels of 4K enhancement possible.

The projector features a multi-level 4K enhancement feature ensures that users can decide on the level of detail they want to see (representatives of Epson authorised partner KEC Sound System, which hosted the demonstration and shootout, suggested level 2 is the most 'natural', with the higher levels ideal for larger screens).

The 3D glasses have to be switched
on and 'paired' with the projector
before use.
It also has a 2D-to-3D conversion feature that transforms any movie in standard HD format into 3D content. During the demonstration the movie looked normal without 3D glasses, but was definitely in 3D with them.

KEC Sound System highlighted that the 3D effects are extremely smooth through the use of interpolation, and also pointed out that a movie can be viewed in 3D even when the lights have not been completely switched off. The projector's Bright 3D Drive Technology offers double image refresh rate to provide greater brightness when viewing.

KEC Sound System also compared the EH-LS10000 with a competitor's projector to show off some of the EH-LS10000's strengths. The new Epson projector has better 'absolute black', for example. When displaying images with zero lumens in full black, the Epson projector provides an unprecedented level of black compared to a similar model from an anonymous competitor's brand.

Epson's superiority was clear when looking at EH-LS10000 images with high contrast levels. There was definitely more detail with the Epson image in the dark areas than with the competitor's images.

The upper image is from the Epson projector and shows faint details on the carpet in the foreground, even though the area is in shadow, whereas the lower image is from the competitor's projector and the details on the carpet do not show up.

The S$10,999 EH-LS10000 is available for sale in Singapore exclusively at KEC Sound System.
