Panasonic rolls out PT-DZ21K2 projector family upgrades

Panasonic yesterday announced major upgrades to its flagship large-venue projectors with the release of the PT-DZ21K2 Quad-Lamp 3-Chip DLP Series.
With a maximum 20,000 lm brightness, 10,000:1 contrast, and up to WUXGA resolution from a compact body weighing 43 kg, the top-end models are targeted at companies requiring staging, rental, and permanent installations in large indoor and outdoor venues.

Designed and manufactured in Japan, the DZ21K2 Series sports a real motion processor supporting a faster 120 Hz refresh rate and a combination of Panasonic’s unique frame creation technology and DLP technology for sharp and smooth motion reproduction.

The company has refined the DZ21K2 Series’ optical engine to enhance focus performance, resulting in improved image clarity and a better sense of resolution and contrast.

Other upgrades to the DZ21K2 Series include a HDBaseT-based DIGITAL LINK single-cable connection, two 3G-SDI inputs (DZ21K2 and DS20K2 only), and a newly developed picture enhancement system to complement next generation of Detail Clarity Processor in accurately resolving images.

Panasonic has also redesigned the lamp modulation system and extended recommended lamp replacement from 2,000 hours to 3,000 hours and cut power consumption from 2,300 W to 2,150 W through the use of lower-wattage lamps. Furthermore, a hermetic liquid cooling system with pressure sensors has lowered perceived noise by 50%.

The DZ21K2 Series comprises the PT-DZ21K2 (20,000 lm, WUXGA), PT-DS20K2 (20,000 lm, SXGA+), PT-DW17K2 (17,000 lm, WXGA), and PT-DZ16K2 (16,000 lm, Full HD) and is planned for release in July 2015.
