| Tan introduces the Panasonic Visual System Solutions at BroadcastAsia2015. |
Panasonic yesterday launched the PT-RQ13K 4K+ Projector, which it says is the most lightweight and compact of its kind in the world, at BroadcastAsia2015. The laser light source flagship model for Panasonic boasts 4K+ image quality made possible by Quad Pixel Drive technology and a laser optical engine, which provides 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation.

“At Panasonic, we are committed to a constant evolution of visual technology, introducing many industry ‘firsts’ such as the world’s lightest 4K+ laser projector,” said Tan.

Tan introduced the 'Half concept' to illustrate how compact the new model is. In a table with competing projector models with similar brightness levels and laser light sources the PT-RQ13K's volume is 113l compared to a range of 213l to 408l for the others, literally half the volume of the next-largest competitor.
Tan also talked about lens shift, or how far an image can be in
relation to the centre of projector without affecting image quality. The PT-RQ13K allows much more lens shift scope, he said.

The projector comes with design improvements like a fail-safe dual-drive laser optical engine that ensures up to 20,000 hours of bright, long-lasting and maintenance-free operation, as well as a new liquid-cooling system that reduces noise and maximises laser light source performance. Its Geometric Adjustment feature allows it to project onto curved or spherical surfaces, and the availability of terminals such as DIGITAL LINK and 3G-SDI inputs further extends the projector’s flexibility.
The PT-RQ13K will be available from December 2015 at a list price of US$99,000.
