Remote monitoring of facilities through the cloud has become a major trend in the global data centre physical security market, says Technavio. Such remote management software offers 24x7 control without the need for on-site monitoring, the company noted, and can even support 'playback' to check past activities.
Market growth in this sector is fuelled by growing concerns over security from customers and the large investments made by data centre owners.

“Rack-level security is one of the new security measures developed by the data center operators, where every rack is protected by video surveillance and biometrics,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio Research.
“With the importance of information storage increasing across industry verticals, data centre operators are spending more on safeguarding the sensitive information.”
The global data centre physical security market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.47% from 2014 to 2019, forecasts Technavio. Key vendors mentioned in Technavio's research include Bosch Security Systems, Cisco Systems, Honeywell Security Group, Schneider Electric, Siemens and Tyco International.
