Tesla S a highlight at BroadcastAsia2015

A Tesla S car at the Panasonic booth at BroadcastAsia2015 is in a dark matte to act as a 3D surface for projection.

Panasonic showcased the capabilities of its projectors at BroadcastAsia2015 with 3D projection mapping onto a Tesla Model S to demonstrate new uses for projection within the rental and staging market in a collaboration between Panasonic, Tesla Motors, d3 Technologies, and The Projection Studio.

The projection system is precise enough to outline details on the Tesla.

“3D mapping projects at events in Asia are getting bigger and more complex and therefore require more flexible setup capabilities,” said Tan Tiong Leng, System Engineer for Professional Display, Visual System Solution Team of Panasonic System Solutions Asia Pacific. “Our lightweight and reliable high-brightness projectors with a variety of lens line-up are ideally suited for applications like this where the audience experience is vital.”

The display utilises Panasonic’s 20,000 lumen PT-DZ21K projectors, which provides high brightness and best-in-class reliability. The projector’s light weight and compact body makes setup and handling quick and easy. The world’s first and shortest* throw lens for 3-Chip DLPTM projectors, the ET-D75LE90 was also used for the project to overcome the limited space at the event.

The Tesla Model S is also a showcase for Panasonic in another way - it is powered by battery cells produced by Panasonic.
