Majority of cloud computing patents focus on computing technology: MIC

Taiwan's Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) has found that patents for cloud computing are concentrated on computing technology, which accounts for 81.8% of all patents. Almost all patents revolve around computing, telecommunications, digital communications, basic communication processes, and audio-visual technology, which consolidated account for 96.1% of patents.

The thinktank concluded that various devices connected to the Internet of Things are not yet connected to the cloud. Those investing in the cloud computing industry, are advised to connect more devices in the medical, mechanical, transport and furniture fields to the cloud and to acquire more cloud computing-related patents, MIC said.
