Double-digit CAGR for global distributed performance and availability management software market

The market for global distributed performance and availability management software has a forecast CAGR of more than 13% between 2016 and 2020, says research firm Technavio. Growth drivers include the need for network management and to monitor databases and applications in corporate firms in order to reduce downtime of servers and applications and improve the quality of the user experience.

Amrita Choudhury, Lead Analyst, ICT, Technavio Research, noted that distributed performance and availability management software providers are focusing on providing predictive analytics. "The built-in predictive analytics feature helps enterprises to analyse and resolve issues before they can arise so that networks and applications do not become vulnerable. It helps enterprises to identify potential opportunities and threats that would be difficult to detect with simple monitoring solutions,” she said.

The on-premise segment monopolises the market, accounting for 91% of the overall market share. On-premises distributed performance and availability management software is installed and run on the organisation’s premises and requires end-users to have a software license. Such software is usually more expensive compared to cloud-based solutions as it requires in-house hardware and huge capital investment in software licenses. It is however considered to be very secure as there is no third-party involvement.

Key vendors in the market include CA Technologies, Compuware, HP, and IBM. The comprises both multinational and regional vendors, and consolidation and intensifying competition are expected.
