Enterprise mobile management continues to be hot

  • Growing importance of security and productivity
  • Rising need to modernise workspaces
  • Key vendors include Citrix Systems, Good Technology, MobileIron, VMware, SAP, Apperian, Microsoft, Centrix, ASG software, SOTI, and Symantec
Technavio has released a new report on the global workspace aggregator market, which it anticipates will grow at a CAGR of around 12% between 2016 and 2020. Workspace aggregators - which seems to be Technavio's term for enterprise mobile management (EMM) platforms - help companies to implement BYOD policies by handling all applications and files centrally in a secure way. The increase in the number of mobile devices, increased mobile Internet use, the growing popularity of the bring your own device (BYOD) concept, and enterprise mobility are contributing to the growth of the market, the company said.

“Of late, the employees demand flexible and dynamic workspaces that offer the liberty to work from any location at any time with any device. This has propelled organisations to modernise the workplaces to increase productivity. They are replacing traditional desktop and cabin models with modern workspaces that provide flexibility. Workspace aggregators help modernise the IT virtual infrastructure so that the user can have a seamless experience with technology,” says Amrita Choudhury, Lead Analyst, ICT, Technavio Research

By 2020, the mobile device management (MDM) segment is anticipated to be the largest revenue contributor at around 51% of the total market revenue. MDM improves the functionality and safety of mobile devices used within an enterprise, besides protecting the corporate network. The MDM software permits the delivery of applications, data and configuration settings, and security for such devices. It also includes application management, file management and sharing, data security tools, and support for either a corporate-owned or personally-owned device.
