The third-generation HP Z1 Workstation is smaller, thinner and lighter

 Forty-seven percent smaller, 51% lighter and 21% less expensive than the previous generation
 23.6” diagonal antiglare UHD 4K display
 Intel Xeon processor options

The refreshed HP Z840, Z640 and Z440 desktop workstations feature multicore Intel Xeon processors1, 2, the latest graphics options from NVIDIA Quadro and AMD FirePro, as well as a choice of Microsoft or Linux operating systems. With the new Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 series processors, HP Z Workstations will support faster memory speeds than the previous generation processors, up to 2,400MHz and can support up to 44 physical cores per workstation3.

The new HP Z Turbo Drive G2 1 TB PCIe SSD storage, HP’s fastest Z Turbo Drive solution to date4, delivers up to four times the read performance of traditional SSDs at a cost that is “remarkably similar”, HP said.

In addition, HP detailed its new receiver software for Apple Mac OS X, designed to give Mac users access to highend HP Z Workstations. They can now multitask between native Mac OS apps and Windows or Linux workstation applications through HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS)5. HP RGS allows users to securely use access files and applications on their HP Workstations, even when they are away from the workstation.

“We took our groundbreaking, and most innovative workstation - the original Z1 - and reinvented it by listening to our customers to create a new smaller, lighter and lower cost model,” said Lionel Chng, Managing Director, HP Inc. Singapore. “The addition of our latest Z Workstations, Z Turbo Drive and HP RGS with a Mac Receiver demonstrate HP Inc.’s unwavering commitment to provide our customers with increased reliability, performance and innovation for their work on everything from mission-critical space endeavours to energy exploration and blockbuster films.”

1. When ordering two processors, the second processor must be the same as the first. HP Z640 and Z840 processor kits include the processor and heat sink. Memory DIMMs must be purchased separately.

2. Multicore is designed to improve performance of certain software products. Not all customers or software applications will necessarily benefit from use of this technology. Performance and clock frequency will vary depending on application workload and your hardware and software configurations. Intel’s numbering is not a measurement of higher performance.

3. Dual processor configurations.

4. Sequential performance compared to previous generations.

5. HP RGS requires a Windows, Linux or OS X 10.10 and newer operating system and network access.

6. Estimated street prices. Actual prices may vary.
