“Governments today are challenged to meet a diverse range of citizen and business demands in an environment where change occurs quickly – there is no one-size fits all solution,” said Suparno Banerjee, VP, Public Sector Strategic Programs, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “Building upon established success in the region helping governments be efficient, agile and resilient, the extension of HPE Future City to Asia Pacific and Japan will accelerate the development and deployment of solutions that improve quality of life, drive economic growth, and create sustainable communities.”
HPE Future City in APJ will initially focus on:
- Leveraging HPE’s Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities through in-region IoT Innovation Labs that have the expertise and capabilities to develop, test and deliver Future City solutions tailored to citizen needs through collaboration with partners and customers
- Continuing to apply the strengths and capabilities of HPE and its implementation partners in building consolidated, integrated hybrid infrastructure platforms as the backbone for delivering core services to citizens through Future City solutions
- Further developing the HPE Citizen Insights Dashboard by the Singapore-based HPE Insights Lab team, which will enhance governments’ abilities to identify, prioritise and track their success in addressing the issues that matter most to their citizens through social media analytics
- Expanding the eHealth Center programme, which provides affordable primary healthcare services through facilities that are designed to fit and deploy within a standard shipping container, through new partners and deployments to bring 21st-century healthcare to more traditionally under-served populations, building greater resiliency in these communities
HPE will also continue to collaborate with the wider industry to address challenges faced by city and government leadership in the region. Current collaborations include a partnership with the National Chiao Tung University and Chung Hua University in Taiwan, which aims to improve public transport systems in Keelung City, Taiwan.
The announcement was made at World Cities Summit 2016, where HPE will highlight the value of its Future City focus on the delivery of results and public value through open ecosystem partnership by participating in a session on Enhancing Social Resilience and showcasing how it is helping cities around the world modernise the delivery of services to citizens.
For the past 50 years, HPE has worked with governments to help them modernise and better serve their citizens. Today, HPE uses big data, cloud, mobility and security to help governments solve every kind of problem, from traffic management and smart parking to resource planning and waste management.
HPE has been applying its expertise – and its belief that specific solutions and initiatives should be tailored to each city, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach – to develop smart city solutions that results in public value around the world. For example, in New Zealand, HPE uses big data technologies to deliver expertise, ecosystem and custom solutions that enhance public safety and transport efficiency for Auckland Transport.
