Limelight Networks sites PoP in KL

Limelight Networks, a global digital content delivery provider, has added a new point-of-presence (PoP) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as part of the company’s ongoing expansion and performance improvement of its global content delivery network (CDN). The new PoP provides increased capacity, reliability and significantly faster network speeds.

“It’s important to us to provide the highest possible quality performance globally and we have been expanding our network throughout the Asia Pacific region,” said Jaheer Abbas, Southeast Asia Regional Director at Limelight Networks. “Our hard work is paying off; immediately after adding our Kuala Lumpur PoP, throughput on our network locally increased by more than 25% while response rates improved 24%. This is incredibly important for any business that delivers digital content or engages with consumers online. Consumers today demand the highest quality online experiences every time, on every device, and from any location.”

According to Cisco’s Visual Networking Index, there will be nearly 4.1 billion global Internet users and 26.3 billion networked devices and connections globally by 2020. However, across countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, fewer than half (47%) are happy with their digital experience, with 20% unsatisfied according to a research report from SAP.

The new PoP will allow Limelight to better help businesses in Malaysia take advantage of the tremendous market opportunity by delivering online experiences that meet and exceed their customers’ expectations.

The Malaysia PoP is the latest development in Limelight’s broader focus on investing and expanding in the Asia Pacific region (APAC). In the past year in APAC, Limelight has increased capacity by more than 200% and grown the number of PoPs by 50%.

Limelight’s network has more than 80 PoPs and 15 terabytes per second of egress capacity. This scalable and secure cloud-based service enables companies to deliver faster websites, more responsive applications, high quality live and on-demand online video, as well as consistent game and software downloads to any device.
