Alibaba Group and China Mobile Communications Corporation sign MoU

Senior executives from both companies attended the ceremony today, including Shang Bing, Chairman of CMCC, Li Yue, President of CMCC, Jack Ma, Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group, and Daniel Zhang, Chief Executive Officer of Alibaba Group.

Alibaba Group and China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will deepen cooperation in Internet-related services, information infrastructure, marketing and other emerging areas of technology. The move also aligns with the national strategy of building up China’s cyber capabilities and capturing the possibilities under the Internet+ policy.

Alibaba and CMCC have previously collaborated on a variety of business areas including information technology infrastructure, e-commerce and mobile payment. The two firms have together started to seek opportunities for cooperation in fast growth areas including cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart devices.

The MoU today builds on the success of an ongoing collaboration, and sets an agenda to explore other opportunities of strategic importance and business value. The companies' shared vision is to improve the level of Internet service provided to customers of both companies in terms of speed, range of coverage, reliability and security.
