Yiwugou.com, the official website of the Yiwu Commodity Market, the largest commodity wholesale market in the world, has launched a partnership with logistics firm YTO Express under which the latter will invest in infrastructure that facilitates e-commerce for both parties.
Under the agreement, YTO will register and operate a platform for global consolidated shipment services in Yiwu to integrate more closely with Yiwugou. YTO will develop an Internet economy industrial cluster in Yiwu and launch projects including YTO Zhejiang headquarters, an e-commerce industrial park, a regional aviation hub and a commodity distribution centre in Yiwu.
Made-in-China goods from different regions are typically sent to Yiwu, from which they are sold elsewhere in the world. Weijiao Yu, Chairman of YTO said, "Yiwu is the centre of global commodity commerce. As the starting point of the YXE International Container Train* and an open channel to Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan sea-rail combined transportation, Yiwu makes an unparalleled contribution to the Belt and Road initiative. With the support from Yiwu, YTO will further invest in airline and railway logistics hubs, develop new markets, and expand its transport capacity. At the same time, YTO will facilitate Yiwu to become an important logistics centre and collaboratively develop Yiwu into an international inland port city."
Yiwugou has been working to become more productive. On October 21, 2016, Yiwugou officially launched Yiwugou Express to consolidate the courier resources. Through technologies like Yiwugou mobile app, smart despatch, order location positioning and mobile payment, Yiwugou Express has improved the order processing efficiency and lowered the cost of delivery; making Yiwu a more competitive player on the internet market. Nearly 2,000 shipment orders are handled on Yiwugou Express daily. and volumes are estimated to hit 10,000 in 2017.
Yiwugou also maintains partnerships with major Chinese couriers including STO, Yunda, China Post and EMS.
*The YXE Container train is a trans-Eurasia train that travels between Yiwu in Zhejiang, China and Europe.
