Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, today announced a strategic partnership in Singapore with AvePoint, the Microsoft cloud expert.
This partnership will help Singaporean customers reduce total cost of ownership, backup time, and input/output operations per second (IOPS) requirements for Microsoft SharePoint. AvePoint's DocAve Storage Manager optimises SharePoint storage by transferring unstructured data from Microsoft SQL Servers to the Hitachi Content Platform, while DocAve Archiver applies intelligent lifecycle management to data in order to fulfil requirements around information retention when audited.
"Storage costs for collaboration platforms like SharePoint can become a massive burden for some organisations," said Joe Ong, MD, Hitachi Data Systems, Singapore and Vietnam. "Our partnership with AvePoint helps customers efficiently offload data to our platform and manage it in a more cost-efficient manner."
“Despite the overwhelming benefits around team collaboration and document management that SharePoint provides, Singaporean organisations are still facing challenges around cost efficiency, as well as auditing and compliance,” said Tianyi Jiang, AvePoint Co-CEO and Co-Founder. “This partnership between AvePoint and Hitachi Data Systems allows more organisations to realise these benefits without being held back by cost of ownership and lack of robust capabilities for data retention in order to stay in compliance with industry and government regulations.”
To establish lifecycle management capabilities, AvePoint and Hitachi Data Systems will work together through:
The Hitachi Content Platform, which enables organisations to manage, govern, protect and share data.
DocAve Archiver, part of the DocAve Software Platform, which enables enterprise content lifecycle management by helping organisations reduce SharePoint storage costs, improve performance, and enhance compliance.
DocAve Storage Manager, also from the DocAve Software Platform, which reduces unstructured data throughout SharePoint’s lifecycle. According to AvePoint, unstructured data or binary large objects (BLOBs) can potentially consume up to 95% of SQL Server storage. As SharePoint on-premises or SharePoint Online deployments grow, Ave Point says BLOBs can cause decreased database performance, slower search results, and higher storage costs.
