A survey* of 500 human resources (HR) executives across 12 countries and 20 industries reveals that providing excellent employee experiences, enabled by technology, is becoming the new way to attract and retain talent.
In The New CHRO Agenda:Employee Experience Drives Business Value survey commissioned by ServiceNow, it was revealed that improving the employee experience with personalised, predictive and seamless digital technologies is at the core of talent attraction and retention.
“The best talent today are choosing companies that embrace advanced technology to create great digital experiences at work,” said ServiceNow HR Product Sales Lead Mark Souter.
“Top talent can work anywhere, and companies that can make work simpler, faster, better will stand a better chance at attracting and retaining them. This is the new gameplan of top human resources leaders – creating excellent employee experiences via digital technologies to make the work, work better for them.”
Another key finding is the evolving role of the CHRO from tactical manager to strategic leader — chief human resource officers (CHROs) recognise their roles are moving beyond core HR functions, with 56% of global respondents saying that the ability to create a digital, consumerised employee experience will define their roles in three years, and only 6% saying their role will continue to be defined by traditional human resources activites.
Second to Japan (84%), 71% of CHROs in Singapore say their role has grown more strategic and that their CEO holds them accountable for employee experience (versus 69% in ANZ). Six in 10 APAC CHROs, across Singapore, Australia, Japan and New Zealand see great importance in data-driven decision making with the injection of data and analytics in their processes, compared to 44% in North America and 54% in Europe.

*ServiceNow commissioned Oxford Economics to survey 500 CHROs about the changing nature of the job and its impact on business performance. Respondents are based in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the US, and represent a broad range of B2B and B2C sectors. The survey was administered via computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI).
The survey report details trends across North America, Europe and Asia, and looks at specific industries such as finance and healthcare. It also illustrates a roadmap for digital transformation of the employee experience.
