“This is a new generation of Mercedes,” Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche said. “It brings together design, usability, services and convenience in a new and unique way.”
MBUX was first introduced in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class in February 2018. It uses two 10.25" digital screens to display 3D graphics and augmented reality navigation, so drivers can tell what is ahead.
The infotainment system relies on fast hardware and software for real-time 3D graphics and natural language processing. It can understand natural language such as “I’m cold, make it warmer,” instead of specific commands. This allows drivers to focus on the road instead of repeating commands or adjusting knobs on a console.
With over-the-air software updates, MBUX can constantly learn, providing more individualised and convenient features. Over time, the car can even learn patterns like a preferred route home or a favourite coffee shop.
