ESET has announced the availability of its latest version of the flagship ESET NOD32 Antivirus, ESET Internet Security and ESET Smart Security Premium security solutions for Windows.

The new products offer fortified multilayered protection, enhanced Internet of Things (IoT) protection and a new security reporting feature. The enhanced capabilities are timely when by 2025, there will be over 75 billion connected devices worldwide – from smart home devices to wearables. As more connected devices are introduced to everyday life, the amount of sensitive data including personal data that is shared increases, as does the attack surface.

“Internet-connected devices are becoming a norm for consumers. As it increasingly becomes more integrated into our daily lives, we must ensure that the personal data that is being used by these devices are kept secure always. The addition of IoT protection to our home user product suite means our customers can be safe with the knowledge that their devices, and the home routers they connect to, are properly secured,” said Parvinder Walia, Sales & Marketing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan, ESET.

ESET's consumer products are characterised by reliability, high detection rates, ease of use and a low performance impact - adding protection traditionally slows down systems, whereas ESET manages this well. Built on machine learning and three decades of knowledge, all ESET products run in the background.

"We built our products to provide an advantage over native Windows protection to show users how a multilayered approach to cybersecurity can battle the toughest of threats out there," said Walia.

Walia noted that ESET's consumer technology has begun to overlap with enterprise solutions, which typically are more powerful. The company was one of the first in 2017 to have a UEFI scanner and ransomware protection.

ESET invests in multiple layers of protection. "Our (protection) rates are the best in the industry. It is highly unlikely that (hackers) will get to the end point," Walia said.

The launch offers a range of capabilities for different needs. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is positioned for comprehensive anti-malware protection, while ESET Internet Security comes with additional layers of security on top of the anti-malware solution. ESET Smart Security Premium provides more protection and features. ESET Internet Security and ESET Smart Security Premium have banking and payment protection, and a password manager is exclusively in ESET Smart Security Premium.

Launch highlights include:

Product recommendation – a new referral feature that gives trial users an option to recommend the product to others. Every successful referral equals one more month of protection for free, up to a maximum of six months free. ESET is exploring introducing this feature for paid users as well.

Security report – this shows what ESET has been actively detecting, blocking and mitigating in the background. Users can choose from five preset items and gain insight into other features such as Secure Data, Password Manager, Anti-theft or Parental Control.

Improved installation – users save up to 40% on the installation time based on the setup of the device. The installation of new ESET products now takes a couple of seconds.

Connected home monitor – allows users to test router-connected smart devices for vulnerabilities such as weak passwords and suggests possible fixes. It also allows users to scan for port vulnerabilities, known firmware vulnerabilities, malicious domains, weak or default router password and malware infections.

All ESET products are GDPR-compliant as well.
