Blackbird.AI sites regional HQ in Singapore

Blackbird.AI, a narrative and risk intelligence provider, has set up regional headquarters in Singapore.

Blackbird.AI's entry into the region gives Asia Pacific (APAC) organisations access to technologies that empower them to make informed decisions against harmful online threats in real-time. The company offers a fast early warning system that can process multilingual conversational social media data and correlate open-source insights to criminal activity on the dark web.

Blackbird.AI’s expansion into Singapore allows the company to better align with local needs across the broader APAC region. With global customers in key sectors such as communications, healthcare, FMCG, and government, Blackbird.AI will be able to adapt and derive a localised approach to support regional organisations accordingly.

Businesses in the APAC region are especially vulnerable to the spread of misinformation and disinformation, Blackbird.AI said, as the region is home to the majority of the world’s social media users and some of the largest and fastest-growing online communities globally. The GSMA states that there are more than 1.2 billion mobile Internet users in APAC excluding China.

“Singapore and the APAC region have been proactively addressing disinformation through policy and education, and we believe we can continue to build on these efforts by strengthening our foothold in Singapore. We look forward to supporting APAC organisations with our leading technology to drive competitive and strategic advantages, especially in this increasingly unpredictable and volatile information ecosystem,” said Wasim Khaled, Blackbird.AI’s CEO and Co-Founder.

“There has been a rapid increase in search interest related to misinformation, fact-checking and fake news across APAC markets. With public scepticism on the rise, trust is the new brand equity. To safeguard decades of hard-earned goodwill, organisations in APAC need technology that is purpose-built to understand new risks in the evolving digital media ecosystem and combat false narratives driven by AI,” added Brice Chambraud, Blackbird.AI’s APAC MD.

Moving forward, Blackbird.AI is also focused on establishing channel partnerships across key APAC markets.
