Creative Technology's Sim passes away

Sim Wong Hoo, Chairman and CEO of Creative Technology and a technology giant in Singapore, passed away on January 4, 2023. Sim's innovations led to US recognition of Creative products at a time when Asian technology companies typically played catch-up to US brands.

Creative Technology was founded by Sim in 1981 and he has been Chairman and CEO since its inception. He was instrumental in turning the company into a digital entertainment leader, with Creative's Sound Blaster sound cards becoming a household name globally. Creative is also known for its wireless speakers and headphones, amplifiers and digital audio converters, as well as home theatre systems.

Lee Kheng Nam, Lead Independent Non-Executive Director, will take over as acting Chairman in the interim. Ng Kai Wa, Independent Non-Executive Director, will be acting as Vice Chairman. Song Siow Hui, President, Creative Labs, will be acting CEO.

"The best thing to do now is to ensure the continued smooth running of the company, and also to execute and realise the vision and strategy that Mr Sim had for the company," said Song.
