"As Singapore’s tech ecosystem continues to grow, the shift away from traditional hypervisors* creates significant opportunities for local cloud and virtualisation providers. This trend not only fosters a more competitive environment but also encourages offerings tailored to meet the unique local regulatory needs," he said.
"'Hypervisor castaways', organisations jumping ship en masse due to recent market shifts, will be on the lookout for a lifeboat. This will completely change the landscape, shifting the balance in the provider ecosystem, while also requiring organisations to adapt to a more heterogeneous environment.
"In Singapore, the adoption of hybrid cloud models has been particularly strong, with the public sector strategically shifting towards a cloud-smart approach. Hybrid multicloud infrastructure deployments are forecast to triple over the next one to three years as organisations face mounting pressures to modernise their IT infrastructures, driven by AI, security, and sustainability."
Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, said a 2024 prediction on cooling data centres came true and will continue to trend in 2025. “Our experts correctly identified the proliferation of AI and the need to transition to more complex liquid- and air-cooling strategies as a trend for 2024, and activity on that front is expected to further accelerate and evolve in 2025,” said Vertiv CEO Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi.
“With AI driving rack densities into three- and four-digit kWs, the need for advanced and scalable solutions to power and cool those racks, minimise their environmental footprint, and empower these emerging AI factories has never been higher. We anticipate significant progress on that front in 2025, and our customers demand it.”
Kenneth Chen, VP, Asia Pacific at ExtraHop, said that the continual security updates have their flaws, suggesting that new cybersecurity tools are required. “Patching/update fatigue leads to more breaches. Security patching is hard to keep up with. As cyberattackers continue to find new ways to evade existing controls and infiltrate organisations, there seems to be a neverending stream of updates and patches that must be deployed," he explained.
"With no end in sight, security leaders must accept that there will always be vulnerabilities/exploits, and focus on building up their post-compromise strategy with solutions that can catch an attack in real-time.
