Singtel received the Plaque of Commendation (Star) – one of the most prestigious organisational awards conferred by NTUC. At the same time, Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel’s Group CEO, was awarded the Medal of Commendation (Gold), the highest accolade for management personnel.

The dual recognition reflects both organisational excellence and leadership impact – an achievement attained by only a handful of companies, Singtel said. It also underscores the company's focus on shaping a purpose-led organisation where people, technology and culture coalesce to drive sustainable workforce transformation.

Yuen said: “I am very honoured to receive these awards which are deeply meaningful not just for Singtel as an organisation, but for every one of our employees who has leaned into change with courage and curiosity. These accolades affirm that we are on the right path in engaging and empowering our workforce to achieve our Singtel28 goals.

"By investing in skills, strengthening support for our people, and working closely with the Labour Movement, we are building a workplace where every employee can thrive and seize new opportunities. The awards also spur us to do more to create a more inclusive, resilient and future-ready workforce for our 13,000 employees in Singapore.”

The Plaque of Commendation (Star) recognises organisations with exemplary and sustained contributions to the labour movement, particularly in improving workers’ welfare and fostering strong tripartite partnerships. The Medal of Commendation (Gold) recognises Yuen’s leadership in championing progressive wages, advancing workforce upskilling, strengthening inclusive representation and enhancing employee well-being across the organisation.

Singtel also celebrated the achievement of Mohamad Latiff bin Othman, a Singtel employee and President of the Union of Telecoms Employees of Singapore (UTES), who was conferred the Comrade of Labour Award for his contributions as a union leader and advocate for workers.

Aileen Tan, Singtel’s Group Chief People and Sustainability Officer said: “We are deeply honoured to receive the Medal of Commendation (Star) and we accept it on behalf of every Singtel employee who chose to grow rather than stand still. In an AI-driven world, the real transformation is not technological. It is human.

"We anchor our approach on the combined power of human, artificial and cultural intelligence as a multiplier for change where AI brings scale and speed, our people bring judgement and creativity, and our culture builds the trust needed for transformation to take root. As the future of work evolves, we are focused on shaping an AI-driven, people-centric organisation where every employee can continuously learn, adapt and grow.”

Thuvinder Singh, General Secretary of UTES, commended Singtel and Yuen for their consistent partnership with the Labour Movement and sustained focus on worker well-being and progress.

“Brother Yuen Kuan Moon has been a strong advocate for positive labour-management relations, working closely with the union to enhance workers’ welfare, support skills upgrading, and drive workplace transformation. He is truly deserving of this nomination as it recognises his leadership and dedication to creating better outcomes for both workers and the organisation.

"In recognition of the organisation’s strong partnership with the labour movement, Singtel is also presented with the Plaque of Commendation Star Award,” Singh said.

The NTUC May Day Awards are among Singapore’s most significant recognitions for individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to workers and the labour movement. In 2026, a record 188 awardees were honoured, reflecting wide-ranging efforts across industries to uplift workers and strengthen tripartism.

Singtel has trained a majority of its Singapore workforce in foundational AI capabilities and, through its memorandum of understanding on its Company Training Committee with UTES, continues to accelerate upskilling. In today's context, this means equipping employees with AI and critical skills to adapt to evolving roles and stay future-ready.

As the pace and scale of job redesign accelerates, structured approaches are needed to support employees in adapting and taking on emerging roles, Singtel noted. Since 2021, Singtel has invested over S$115 M in training, which includes the Professional Conversion Accelerator (PCA), a key initiative that drives role transitions through job redesign and targeted capability building.

Launched in 2021, PCA supports Singtel’s transformation into an AI-first telco by fast-tracking role transitions and building future-ready capabilities aligned with business needs. It has delivered impact across both technical and non-technical functions, helping employees move into new and expanded roles while strengthening overall workforce capability.

More than 3,900 employees have participated in this enterprise-wide programme over the past five years, gaining the skills and confidence to thrive in a digital economy and drive business value. Singtel continuously reskills and upskills its employees to ensure they remain relevant and resilient in a rapidly evolving workplace.
