Teradata honours employees in Asia in CSR initiative with Celebration of Caring awards

Analytic data solutions company Teradata's employee engagement programme includes CSR initiative Teradata Cares, through which the company honours individual associates and teams for exceptional contributions and community dedication annually.

The 2013 International Employee of the Year is Srinivas Rao, from Hyderabad, India. Rao has served as a Teradata Cares Champion in Hyderabad, India since 2008. According to the company, he inspires associates in India to give back through a variety of causes by coordinating blood drives, organising a scholarship programme for students who could not meet college expenses, and leading fundraising for families in need.

In addition, his leadership was instrumental in encouraging employees to be fit, in promoting the use of reusable jute bags, and urging the purchase of handwork done by mentally challenged children.

The 2013 Team of the Year is from Pakistan. When associates in the Teradata Global Consulting Centers in Islamabad and Lahore, Pakistan, learned of the Phool Nagar School, a school that provides free education to underprivileged children at Kot Bhai Khan and adjacent villages, they put together a plan to support the school.

They collected and analysed data to understand the educational landscape of the area, and then planned activities with the children and with the 500 families in the area to encourage them to enroll their children. They also collected donations for sports items, books, stationery, chocolates, educational materials and learning toys. Finally, they made the four-hour journey to the school to meet with teachers and parents, play with the children and deliver the donated goods. The team plans to have an ongoing volunteer relationship with Phool Nagar School.

"Our Celebration of Caring award winners represent the very best of Teradata – employees committed to making a meaningful difference in our communities as they uphold our tenet of corporate social responsibility.  We are proud of their accomplishments, and pleased to recognise them for their significant volunteer contributions," said Mike Koehler, Teradata President and CEO.
