Utimaco, the manufacturer of hardware-based security technology (hardware security modules, HSM), today announced it is extending its range of TimestampServer offerings with the introduction of TimestampServer 2.40, targeted at enterprises and governments.

The solution allows organisations to integrate timestamping functions as part of document
management and archiving systems, electronic tender platforms, electronic invoicing solutions or
lottery systems.

TimestampServer 2.40 comes with a range of unique features, including FIPS 140-2 certified Hardware Security Modules (Level 3 or Level 4 physical security) and is compliant with the RFC
3161 timestamp protocol and ETSI Technical Specification TS102023. Common algorithms such
as RSA (up to 8,192 bits key length) and SHA-2 are supported.

“It is one of the few products in the world that comes with an integrated Hardware Security Module,” said Malte Pollmann, CEO of Utimaco. “Unlike software-only solutions the Utimaco TimestampServer can be used to secure really high-value applications and assets like multimillion dollar lotteries, online tender platforms, document management systems or government assets such as land registries. The only way to ensure that no unauthorised individual or organisation can modify these assets is by using a hardware-based timestamping solution as a root of trust.”

TimestampServer will also support eIDAS, the upcoming European Union (EU) regulation for electronic identification and trust services that applies to timestamping of documents.

The Utimaco TimestampServer 2.40 will be available in late 2016. An online demo version of the  software is available. Early test runs and trial integrations are available to implementation partners now. Email support-cs at utimaco.com or hsm at utimaco.com with enquiries.
